Logo Development Case Study

The Client:

Located in the heart of the beautiful Adirondacks of upstate New York, Adirondack Riverwalking offers guided outdoor experiences that enhance human health, as well as foster human care for nature. Their sensory immersion practices in nature–including River Walking, Sensory Snowshoeing, Forest Bathing and more–help participants heal the stress of modern life, and aim to inspire all to engage in the ​healing of our planet.​ An essential part of their mission is to bring Nature Therapy to children, schools and families within the Adirondack Park.​

 

The Challenge:

​

The client was in search of a new logo design that represented the interconnectedness of humans and nature. They provided an inspiration piece of watercolor artwork that depicted the soft layering of human silhouettes over a background of water and trees. The logo was to represent people of various ages and abilities interacting with nature, depict local terrain, and to relay the client’s mission of sensory immersion in nature.

Creative Concepting:

 

It was a tall order for a little logo, but we were up for the challenge. We began by reviewing their existing logo, and inspiration artwork, exploring the local landscape to ensure authenticity, researching color palettes and letting the creative juices flow. 

​

The Results:

 

After several rounds we landed on a logo that really does tell the story
of Adirondack Riverwalking. The tones represent the colors in nature:
soft greens, blue and brown. The shape has an organic feel and represents
a sense of movement and flow. And the human silhouettes represent the
connection to nature and its health-enhancing powers. The scale of human

versus nature tells the story–that nature is the focus. To be experienced. 

To be protected.
