Google has announced they are gearing up to release a new core algorithm update in the coming weeks. The exact launch date and impacts remain undetermined as the update is still in the testing and evaluation phase.

These core updates are typically released quarterly, however, this isn’t a hard rule. The last significant core update occurred in March 2024, and while the March update was referred to as “massive” by those in the industry, many sites affected by previous updates did not see the improvements they hoped for. Site owners are optimistic that the upcoming update will bring positive change. This follows a series of other spam and content quality updates including the Site Reputation Abuse Update and the June 2024 Spam Update.

Why it matters: Many sites have hoped for improvements since the September 2023 Helpful Content Update. Unfortunately, most of those sites have yet to see a change. As a result, there is hope that the next update will bring the desired recoveries. Whether this will happen is yet to be determined.

Note to our current clients: Every SEO program we manage has a component of ongoing monitoring for both prior and real-time algorithm impacts. Rest assured, we will always communicate any significant fluctuations (both positive and negative) as a result of a known algorithm change.
